JIM MCCARTHY

Without question, Jim is one with the Clearwater River! He's an Orofino local and expert with 30 years of guiding experience.  Jim is the man everyone calls for fishing advice. No one spends more time fishing, guiding and recreating on the Clearwater River than Jim.

When it comes to guiding fishermen on the Clearwater, Jim has seen every water flow, river condition and many years of different fishing circumstances. Nothing can throw Jim off, he always has a plan. Jim joined Clearwater River Outfitters in 2003.  He lives overlooking the Clearwater River, right in Orofino, Idaho

JIM'S GUIDE BOAT PROFILE

Jim operates a 25.5' Alumaweld SuperVee guide sled powered with a 225hp Mercury Jet outboard.  This all open fishing boat will seat up to six fishermen. Its shallow draft capabilities make it a very desirable and popular craft for the Clearwater River.

DOUG RICHERT

Doug aka "Captain Big D" went on a guided fishing trip with the owner of Clearwater River Outfitters over 20 years ago.  That was all it took and young Doug Richert knew what he wanted to do in life.  Many years later, "Big D" is one of the most experienced and diverse fishing guides in all of the NorthWest.  Doug is known for his unquestionable fish catching abilities.  Most of our guides will admit that when Doug is on his game, he is hard to beat.  Doug lives in Clarkston, WA near the confluence of the Clearwater and Snake Rivers.

DOUG'S GUIDE BOAT PROFILE

Doug's boat is a 26'  Bloodworth Inboard Jet Boat.  This boat is powered by an 8.1 liter Chevy V8 engine with a Hamilton 241 jet pump.  We consider this one of the most versatile and effective guide boats on the river.

CHAD PATCHEN

Born and raised on the Clearwater River, Chad has been an avid fisherman all of his life.  He connected with the crew of Clearwater River Outfitters years ago and after a couple of years as a deckhand is now one of our most proficient fishing guides.  Chad loves Quickfish, Maglips and any kind of plug a Steehlead or Springer might bite.  Chad is meticulous with his gear and is always planning for his next trip.  His love for the Clearwater and guiding fishermen is always apparent.  We enjoy seeing his energy, hard work and dedication to his craft.

CHAD'S GUIDE BOAT PROFILE

Chad runs a 23' Alumaweld SuperVee that seats 2-4 anglers comfortably.  This boat is powered by a 175hp Mercury Optimax Jet Outboard.  This boat shines in small water and low water conditions.

TRACY ALLEN

Known as a Clearwater River spey fishing specialist, Tracy has never caught a Steelhead any other way.  Tracy is well known as the authority  on the Clearwater River with it comes to dry line swinging flies for B-Run Steelhead.  A life long fisherman, and Clearwater River fishing guide with decades of experience, Tracy's passion shines amongst the spey fishing community.

TRACY'S GUIDE BOAT PROFILE

Tracy’s guide boat is an 18’ Sea Ark powered by a 60/40 Yamaha jet. This boat has been customized by Tracy himself to specially accommodate his clients on his intimate 1-2 person steelhead spey trips.

JAMES HOLLINGSHEAD

Growing up in the Lewis-Clark Valley, James has spent countless days chasing steelhead on the Clearwater and Smallies on Dworskak reservoir. Joining the C.R.O. team in 2006. From the time he was young James's obsession to bass fishing has shaped his life. James is master fishermen and his ability to outwork the other guides on the water is just a fact. No one will work harder to get their clients on fish than Jimmy. He just gets er done!

JAMES'S GUIDE BOAT PROFILE

James guides the Clearwater and Dworshak in his 25’ Alumaweld Super V. This boat is set up for both the river and the reservoir with all the appropriate electronics, trolling motors and equipment to take on the catch of the day.
